Mplayer + Rhythmbox: Could not find free Xvideo port agosto 14, 2008

Oggi, provando ad aprire un video con Mplayer, mi saltava fuori un’errore nuovo:
Xv: could not grab port 73
Could not find free Xvideo port – maybe another process is already using it.
Close all video applications, and try again. If that does not help,
see ‘mplayer -vo help’ for other (non-xv) video out drivers.
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.
Dopodichè il programma si chiudeva senza riprodurre nulla.
gmplayer, stranamente, invece continuava ad eseguire qualsiasi video senza problema.
Cercando su internet, fortunatamente in 5 minuti ho trovato la risposta: mentre tentavo di aprire il video, era in esecuzione Rhythmbox. In pratica la porta richiesta da mplayer è, di default, usata dal plugin di visualizzazione di Rhythmbox. Per risolvere il problema, basta disabilitare tale plugin in:
Edit->Plugins->Effetto visivo
e riavviare Rhythmbox.
Soluzione alternativa: evitare di usare i 2 programmi contemporaneamente
